Luminous Shadows

They are bas-reliefs in charred wood or finished in white enamel that cast a luminous aura onto the supporting wall. With the right angle of light, the “luminous shadow” appears both in natural and artificial light thanks to the reflective color applied to the back. The impression is that of a true backlighting effect.
The artist draws inspiration from various forms of fossils, microorganisms, amygdalae, or archaic tools and ancient plow points which, when combined, evoke hydrodynamic bodies of possible marine creatures.
The works in charred wood also become “guiding staffs,” conceived as propitiatory emblems signifying that the environment is not entirely destroyed and that we can still enter into harmony with the regenerative force of nature.
